Helpful Tricks For Cleaning Bathtubs

Cleaning Bathtubs

Cleaning a dirty bathtub is up there with scrubbing toilets – neither of them are jobs we love to do, but they have to be done to keep your family healthy. And think about it – what’s worse than cleaning a filthy bathtub? Having a bath in one. Yuck! So here are some simple methods using homemade, natural ingredients to get your bathtub or spa bath sparkling clean. They’re great for touch-ups between visits from your regular professional cleaning team if you’re lucky enough to have one, or you can use them all the time if you don’t. Whether your problem is soap scum, a clogged plug hole or gunky jets, these tricks will help.

Myhome is a well-established Australian company with over 10 years of experience in domestic cleaning services, and a reputation for delivering the highest standards.
We have thousands of satisfied customers who come back to us time and again.

Bathtubs Cleaning

Clean the Plughole

Oh, yes, you’re probably gagging at the thought of pulling hairs out of the plug hole but it only takes a minute, and if you’re wearing rubber gloves you don’t have to touch it. Remember, hair is attractive to germs and viruses, so it just has to go if you want a clean bathtub. Using a pair of pointy nosed pliers, just pick the hair and gunk from the holes. For a homemade, natural remedy for any hair and gunk that is further down the drain, combine one-third of a cup of vinegar with the same amount of baking soda (a.k.a. carb soda) and as soon as it starts to go fizzy, pour it down the plughole. It should dissolve the hair and grime if you leave it to soak overnight. Just flush it out with hot water in the morning for a clean, unclogged drain. The same method can be used for clogged jets.

Natural Tub, Tile and Grout Cleaners

This is a good one. Make a simple homemade solution to clean the tub, tiles and grouting from baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and dishwashing liquid. You’d never think to combine these three ingredients that you probably have in your pantry. Mix them up and wipe over the entire bath, tiles and grout, leave for 15 minutes and rinse with warm water. Another kitchen product you can use to clean the spa, bathtub or shower recess is dishwashing tablets. Some people will use nothing else, and it’s a great way to maintain the cleanliness between professional cleans.

The staff members at Myhome have all been through a comprehensive training program, and they’re aware of the high levels of cleanliness expected of them.
Your satisfaction is our main aim, which means if you’re not 100 per cent happy with our cleaning service, we’ll come back to your home to do the job again for free. – Guaranteed.

More Natural Methods For a Clean Tub

A friend passed on her grandmother’s answer to a clean bathtub, and we know Grannies have a wealth of home cleaning knowledge. All you do is mix equal amounts of dishwashing liquid with vinegar, pour it into a spray bottle, give it a shake and spray it all over the bathtub, tiles and grouting. Leave it on for 10 minutes, unless there are tough stains, and in that case leave it on for 15 or 20 minutes then just wipe it off, and rinse. The mixture dissolves soap scum and grot, and you’ll be surprised by how clean and shiny the tub will be.

For Tough Stains in the Bathtub

For stubborn stains and rust, clean the bathtub with the homemade dishwashing liquid and vinegar solution and afterwards use a magic eraser on the tough spots. Another tried and true, natural and homemade way to clean the bath grapefruit. Just cut it in half, dip the cut part into salt and scrub the bath with it. Keep dipping and scrubbing until you’ve removed all the grime and scum. Using a lemon this way works just as well, but the grapefruit is bigger and covers more area as you clean. If your bathtub just needs a gentle scrub, this would work just fine, and it will smell divine.
